The esquire program teaches Christianity and Knightly Brotherhood through the ideals of Chivalry. It is designed to give the tools to make appropriate decisions that will have positive impacts on their future and the world around them. The focus is on developing respect for self and others, discipline, honor, and spirituality, through strict practice of customs and courtesies.
When children attend, the involvement of the parents is instrumental in the development and support of each child who participates, because it is our youth who will shape our future.
The topics covered by this program relate to what was an integral part of every day life for the medieval Knightly Class, for both bachelor Knights as well as those in an Order. Throughout all of these topics, a high adherence to customs and courtesies will be followed.
Program Topics
- Combat arts of the Knightly Class. This will include both the un-armed art as well as the art of weapons used by Knights.
- Spiritual beginnings of the Orders of Chivalry as well as Christianity being the foundation for society in general (we will focus more on the Orders of Chivalry).
- Secondary professions (Knightly trade craft) Knights became involved in (for example finance - a Knightly Order became the first organized banking organization).
- Heraldry, to include it's meaning, history, and have participants design their own coat of arms.
