The Investiture ceremony for the Order of St. George is more than a night to put on a tuxedo. It is a night where you will vow before God to uphold and defend a code of conduct, the Christian faith, Brother Knights, and the Order of Imperial Chivalry of St. George. These vows are not to be taken lightly, for they are a commitment that is promised before God.
The Investiture ceremony is held in the spring. Spring is the time of year when nature is reborn. This is to remind each new Knight that he is being reborn into a new way of life, a new family, a new brotherhood, and a new outlook on life and others. Each new Knight will take their vows to God and the Order in front of a congregation of Knights. Then and only then will they be allowed to wear the mantle of the Order.
During the Investiture, member knights wear our Orders mantle adorned with our black ten pointed cross. The wearing of this mantle is more than a ritualistic maintenance of an ancient tradition; it is a symbol of brotherhood and dedication to Christianity.
All Members of the Order shall be practicing members in good standing within their particular denomination. They shall be committed to the upholding with their lives, fortunes and honour, the principles of Christianity, and shall stand united before all men in their determination to live and die following the teaching of Christ and His Holy Church. The pursuit of unity is shown by respecting the other Christian denominations represented in the Order and by praying together for true unity. All Members form a spiritual family and brotherhood, sharing and helping each other at all times, and particularly in times of trouble. Each Member does, when admitted to the Order, solemnly undertake, before God and the assembled congregation, to maintain and defend this code of conduct.
All membership applications are due to be turned into the Grand Ballei by November. Investitures are ceremonies of the highest standard. Reverence for the Order, the members of the Order, and the applicants vows to the Order and God are held in the utmost. All investitures will be held on holy ground for members and applicants to reflect on the sanctity of the vows being taken, the ground where those vows are said, and the Order and God to whom those vows are to be said.
An investiture ceremony transforms an applicant into a full member of the Order. By becoming a member of Imperial Chivalry of St. George, an applicant is welcomed into our brotherhood of Knights. All members within this Order are expected to uphold the mission, goals, and visions of the Order. The overall objectives of the Order are to preserve and protect the Christian Faith, education of the general public in the noble traditions of Chivalry and the art of Heraldry, help those who cannot help themselves, support and defend the other members within our brotherhood, and care for the honor and growth of the Order. This is what it means to be invested within the Order.
The title of Knight, that each member will be granted, is not one of a fraternal organization. This title is a legitimate legal German Feudal title. These titles are granted by the Grand Comptur of the Order, who holds the German Feudal title of Imperial Knight.
